"Tokai COBEX to join Verkor in France"

We are proud to announce that we will participate in the Renault group’s strategic “Renaulution” by joining forces with Verkor. As of yesterday, we will accompany the journey to develop in France for Europe high performance batteries to enable the e-mobility transformation. We will contribute with our wide-ranging expertise in high performance graphite to manufacture the lowest CO2 and greenest batteries. Verkor aims to market an entirely new approach to high performance battery manufacturing that is driven by resource efficiency, recycling and enhanced environmental performance. We are honoured to be part of this innovative project which will help Europe to realize its Green Deal targets.
Frank Goede Managing Director of Tokai COBEX said: “This is a very important milestone for Tokai COBEX in our group strategy to become a major and reliable supplier of graphite made in France for the production of battery cells in Europe. The decision to transform our French operations in our global hub of production of graphite for battery cells was made. By joining forces with Verkor, we’re bringing together the experience of Tokai Carbon in the production and commercial supply of battery anode materials since 2006, the advantage of producing highly competitive graphite in France with a CO2 footprint amongst the lowest in the world and the know-how and highly innovative approach of Verkor.”
At a signing ceremony in Paris today, Verkor’s CEO Benoit Lemaignan said: “We are honoured to have shareholders of such a high quality on board with us. I want to thank our team for what we have achieved together in less than a year of existence. Our new shareholding structure totally reflects our ambition: an end-to-end approach to battery manufacturing, each of us focusing on what we do best, while cross-fertilising our expertise.”
