SGL CFL CE becomes COBEX

Wiesbaden, Germany, 14 May 2018 – Something is afoot in the international carbon and graphite product business: the previous SGL CFL CE business unit of the SGL Group has become a new, stand-alone company. After a change of ownership, the company is now ready to compete on the global stage under the name of COBEX. ‘The name of the new company – COBEX – stands for Experts in Carbon Solutions. The colours black and red symbolise the connection between the basic materials, carbon and
graphite, and the use of our products in the industrial world. The name COBEX is new, but we will continue to operate on the market as a global expert in carbon and graphite products used in the primary aluminium and iron making industry and in other metallurgical smelting processes,’ explain Frank Goede and Andrzej Hotlos, the Managing Directors of COBEX.
