As a manufacturer of carbon and graphite products for industrial applications, we consider it as our duty to address the global challenges of the future proactively.
Our corporate culture is based on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and is a cornerstone of our overall strategy, guiding our entire organisation.
Long term sustainability is key for our decision making and a variety of projects and initiatives have been launched, internally and together with our customers, to reduce for example the overall CO2 footprint.
Tokai COBEX’ products are an essential part of primary aluminium production. By supporting ASI’s (The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) mission of improving the overall sustainability performance and reputation of the aluminium industry, we are proud to contribute to a community aiming to reduce the impact of industrial production processes on the environment.

We commit to a greener future by making our
operations ever cleaner and more efficient,

Industrial processes have the potential to cause significant environmental consequences if not managed responsibly.
Tokai COBEX Environment and Operations teams are working closely together to avoid any harmful or hazardous impact on the environment or people. They are regularly monitoring our operating processes and working conditions, while simultaneously searching for ways of continuous improvements.
We focus on:
Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction
In the recent past, Tokai COBEX has undertaken substantial investments in various equipment and installations for environmental protection e. g.:
- All our plants meet the production gas emission standards.
- Limiting SO2 emissions by investing about 1.1 mio € into post-calcination gas desulphurization.
- In Nowy Sącz, we recently (2021) installed a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) which additionally reduces volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of the process gas by as much as 70 – 90 %.
Air Quality
Tokai COBEX invested about 5.4 mio € into a brand-new graphitization fumes treatment (as part of our pollution control) in Raciborz, Poland.
Water & Waste Management
In our Notre-Dame-de-Briancon plant in France, we focus currently on the areas of gas cleaning, reduction of water consumption and waste management.
Energy Management
Our vast majority of our electricity power is already today sourced from green renewable energy.

We use the international standards ISO 9001, ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 as a framework that allows our organisation to document and improve our practices in order to better meet the needs and expectations of our customers, stakeholders and interested parties.
